چکیده

Merging data from multiple studies has been widely adopted in biomedical research. In this paper, we consider two major issues related to merging longitudinal datasets. We first develop a rigorous hypothesis testing procedure to assess the validity of data merging, and then propose a flexible joint estimation procedure that enables us to analyse merged data and to account for different within-subject correlations and follow-up schedules in different studies. We establish large sample properties for the proposed procedures. We compare our method with meta analysis and generalized estimating equations and show that our test provides robust control of Type I error against both misspecification of working correlation structures and heterogeneous dispersion parameters. Our joint estimating procedure leads to an improvement in estimation efficiency on all regression coefficients after data merging is validated.

THE COMPARISON OF TWO METHOD NONPARAMETRIC APPROACH ON SMALL AREA ESTIMATION (CASE: APPROACH WITH KERNEL METHODS AND LOCAL POLYNOMIAL REGRESSION)

Small Area estimation is a technique used to estimate parameters of subpopulations with small sample sizes.  Small area estimation is needed  in obtaining information on a small area, such as sub-district or village.  Generally, in some cases, small area estimation uses parametric modeling.  But in fact, a lot of models have no linear relationship between the small area average and the covariat...

Merging multiple longitudinal studies with study-specific missing covariates: A joint estimating function approach.

Merging multiple datasets collected from studies with identical or similar scientific objectives is often undertaken in practice to increase statistical power. This article concerns the development of an effective statistical method that enables to merge multiple longitudinal datasets subject to various heterogeneous characteristics, such as different follow-up schedules and study-specific miss...

Model Selection for Correlated Data with Diverging Number of Parameters

High-dimensional longitudinal data arise frequently in biomedical and genomic research. It is important to select relevant covariates when the dimension of the parameters diverges as the sample size increases. We propose the penalized quadratic inference function to perform model selection and estimation simultaneously in the framework of a diverging number of regression parameters. The penalize...

Comparison of Kullback-Leibler, Hellinger and LINEX with Quadratic Loss Function in Bayesian Dynamic Linear Models: Forecasting of Real Price of Oil

In this paper we intend to examine the application of Kullback-Leibler, Hellinger and LINEX loss function in Dynamic Linear Model using the real price of oil for 106 years of data from 1913 to 2018 concerning the asymmetric problem in filtering and forecasting. We use DLM form of the basic Hoteling Model under Quadratic loss function, Kullback-Leibler, Hellinger and LINEX trying to address the ...

Quadratic inference functions in marginal models for longitudinal data.

The quadratic inference function (QIF) is a new statistical methodology developed for the estimation and inference in longitudinal data analysis using marginal models. This method is an alternative to the popular generalized estimating equations approach, and it has several useful properties such as robustness, a goodness-of-fit test and model selection. This paper presents an introductory revi...
